GGCY Teaches
Guns Sport, Respect & Safety
how it all started
Capital City Young Guns (CCYG) was created to teach youth how to shoot clay targets for recreation or competition. Instruction is available for Sporting Clays, 5-Stand, Skeet and Trap. Each discipline of target shooting is different and requires an understanding of each sport as each sport has its own rules and protocols. CCYG was created in 2015 and became a 501-c-3 tax exempt nonprofit in 2017.
What Drives Us
Mission
Capital City Young Guns is a youth educational organization that teaches self-confidence, ethics and discipline by participating safely and responsibly in shotgun shooting sports.
Young Guns Specifics
CCYG provides an avenue for youth to participate in shot gunning sports by providing the education and materials necessary for safe, enjoyable, and successful experiences. CCYG provides instruction, ammunition, targets and shotguns for use while going through the program.
Youth can enter competitive shoots as a result of their instruction. Instructors will be certified by national organizations such as ATA, NSCA, NRA and 4-H.
Participation in the program is based on the number of qualified available instructors and hopefully that number will exceed demand.
Funding support for CCYG comes from fund raising events, donations and grants.
All instructors and Board members are volunteers. CCYG may assist with fees to become an instructor.
As the program grows and funding is increased it is hoped that costs for entrance fees, ammunition, carts and travel can be subsidized for qualifying youth who compete in state, regional and national competitive events.
Youth who are not part of the program can use the range and will not be charged for targets however they will need to supply their ammunition.
CCYG is currently based in Bismarck/Mandan but could operate in other communities in the future.
